City – St. Cloud, MN
// cigdangle // Information No Responses
Three towns, first known as Upper, Middle, and Lower towns, comprised the early permanent settlement of St. Cloud. The trio, arranged around two deep ravines that joined the Mississippi River, were united as the City of St. Cloud in 1856. St. Cloud soon became a trade and processing center for the surrounding agricultural area. The arrival of the railroad and the founding of the first granite quarry in 1868 attracted new settlers and brought more economic progress. By 1900, transportation and natural resources helped maintain St. Cloud’s prominence as one of the state’s largest cities. Neighborhoods developed with many styles and sizes of houses, from picturesque late Victorian mansions to simple yellow brick or frame worker’s cottages. Today, St. Cloud is home to almost 6,000 historic structures built before or in 1955.TRAVEL INFORMATION – CLICK HERE
FOOD
There are a ton of great places to eat in St. Cloud. Here are some of the best.THE WHITE HORSE
A great pub with a delicious little menu and amazing daily specials. Great for lunch, dinner, and drinks!
GREEN MILL RESTAURANT & BAR
Although a chain, it has a great bar and is attached to the Kelly Inn. As for food, two words: Spinach Dip!
JULES’ BISTRO
Jules’ Bistro is a great little cafe, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
CIATTI’S RISTOURANTE
Surprisingly, one of Tommy’s favorite Italian restaurants is not in Milwaukee, but St. Cloud! Ciatti’s Ristorante is great for a big lunch or dinner. They also have great happy hour specials and a nice outdoor seating area.
DRINK
Need a drink? There are many great bars right in the downtown area, but these are our favorites.
